An Ordinance concerning the Port and Levee of New-Orleans, Art. 27 (City Council Decree, 23 Feb., 1827)

Abstract
It shall not be lawful to fire off any cannon or other piece of artillery, or fire arms of any kind, on board of any ship, steam-boat, or other craft within the port of Orleans, except from day-break to the hour of retreat ; that is to say, until nine o'clock from the 15th of March to the 15th of September, and until eight o'clock during the remainder of the year
