dc.description.abstractNo. 169, § 18: It shall be unlawful for any person within this city to carry upon his person a pistol, dirk. bowie knife, or other deadly weapon concealed or otherwise, and any person so doing shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not exceeding one hundred dollars, or by imprisonment not to exceed three months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.§Provided, however, that this shall not apply to an officer in the discharge of his official duty, nor to a person carrying an unloaded shot-gun or rifle; and§provided§further, that the mayor of this city may, for a good cause shown by any person engaged in any legitimate business, when he deems it necessary for the safety of such person, or his business, give to such person a written permit attested by his signature, and the seal of the city, to carry deadly weapons for his or her defense.
